2010 Children’s Art Classes

Shell Stone Art – Saturday, March 20 from 10:00-11:30am (ages 7 and up).  Make a decorative stone for use in the garden or home using beautiful seashells with sand, cement and molds.  Class fee is $35.00 and includes all materials.  A great class for parents to take with their child.  Taught by Bob Sandoval. 

Shout It Out! Banner Making - Saturdays, April 10, 17, 24 and May 3 from 9:00-11:30am (age 8 to teens).  Learn two methods for making banners:  one using old bed sheets and latex paint and the other using canvas in this three-session class.  Each student will design and make a small banner to take home and will work as a class on a large banner to be used at the Kings Art Center for upcoming events!  Class fee is $45.00.  Taught by Pat Brown and Tedra Battaglia. 

Rock Mosaic – Saturday, May 15 from 10:30-12:00 (ages 7 & up).  Children will learn to design and make a picture using small pebbles, white glue and mat board.  (Children 6 and younger are welcome to enroll with parent enrolling in the class as well.) The class fee is $25.00 and includes all materials.  Taught by Bob Sandoval.   

After School Art Lessons – Wednesdays April 7, 14, 21, 28 & May, 5, 12, 19, 26 from 3:30-5:00.  Sign up for as many sessions as you like.  Each session will cover a different topic or medium with a hands-on art lesson taught by Kings Art Center teachers.  $10.00 per session.  Advanced enrollment required.

2010 Adult Art Classes

Origami Mondays, April 5, 12, 19, 26 from 6:00 – 7:30pm (teens and up) Learn basic folds (mountain & valley) through more advanced folds.  Students will learn to create various animals and shapes along with the background and history of the art form, the meaning of the the different shapes and how to read/translate origami instructions. Class fee $45.00. Taught by Ray Thomas.

Beauty of Art & Light Stained Glass Mosaic - Friday, March 26 from 6:30-8:30pm and concluding on Saturday, March 27 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The class fee is $60.00 and includes stained glass and finishing materials.  Bring a wooden picture frame with the glass (9x12 or 11x14) and a brown bag lunch for Saturday. Taught by Pat Brown.  

Glass Fusing Jewelry (April) - Tuesdays, April 6 and April 13 from 6:00 to 9:00pm.  Students will make a ready to wear fused glass pendant using beautiful and unique Dichroic glass.  Beginning and intermediate techniques will be presented. The class fee is $48.00 and includes all materials.  Taught by Bob Sandoval.

Life and Figure Drawing – Thursdays, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from 7:00-8:30pm.  Learn the basics of drawing the human figure using a variety of drawing tools and techniques. The class fee is $50.00 and includes drawing instruments.  Student provides:  newsprint pad for sketching; Bristol pad for fine drawing  (16”x20” or larger); white eraser.  Taught by Rey Ruiz.

Acrylic Painting – Sundays in March, April and May from 1:00-3:30pm.  This class is designed for the beginner to the advance artist to explore their creativity through painting.  Individual attention is provided.  The class fee is $50.00 per month.  Taught by Rey Ruiz.

Glass Fusing Jewelry (May) – Mondays, May 10 and 17 from 6:00 - 9:00pm.  Continue the fun from April will glass fusing techniques using Dichroic glass.  Students will make a ready to wear fused glass piece.  Beginning and intermediate techniques will be presented. The class fee is $48.00 and includes all materials.  Taught by Bob Sandoval.

Stenciling – Tuesdays, April 20 and 27 from 6:30 – 7:30pm.  Learn a variety of techniques for stenciling on walls and objects with various brushes and sponges.  Class will include demonstration and hands-on.  Class fee is $25.00 and includes classroom materials.  Taught by Theresa Baldwin.

Class Policy:
Class size is limited. Enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. Demand for classes is high. To guarantee a place in any class tuition must be paid at the time of enrollment.

Scholarship Program:
Scholarships are available for art classes for any child showing an interest in art, who might otherwise be unable to participate. One per family per year.

Cancellation Policy:
Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE unless you have called and cancelled the student at least a week (7) days prior to the start of  classes . There is a $5.00 handling fee for cancellations.  In the event of a class being cancelled by the Kings Art Center, a full refund will be given.
